  Yes it is an old wives tale, but I believe at 8 weeks all babys heartbeats are that high and dont level out for a coupl more weeks..

  My first 2 u/s baby's hr was 186 and 179....HE is very much a boy....just another old wives take

  My mom's ob did a study on that years ago when she went through her two pregnancies. Both my brother and I were predicted to be girls due to high heart rates... obviously not completely accurate.

  old wives tale- but one i'm chosing to believe this week-- as is points to my baby girl! (same thing the chinese gender charts are predicting!)

  I asked the Dr. when I was pg. with DS and they said there is no truth to BPM and gender.

  Ditto HB at 10 weeks 190. Chinese gender = Girl. Ring Test = Girl. All three pointed to Boy with my DS.

  I went for my first checkup at 8 weeks , baby Heart BPM was 169 which they said was perfect.  I also have heard the higher the heartbeat the more likely it is a girl ~

  It's a wivestale and means nothing. I know someone that LOs had same heart rate with both pregnancies and had one of each.

  That is a good one, I haven't heard it before.  It ALMOST sounds scientific, LOL  My favorite is that is you will not eat the heel of a loaf of bread it is a girl!
