I'm sure this is a drama, possibly flame-worthy post, but I'm curious. What are everyone's opinion on piercing their baby's ears? DH really want to, it's a cultural thing for him...I'm iffy, and wondering whether or not to do it. If we do, when should we do it?! Okay, go! Flame, opinion, whatever, let's hear it!
Re: Ear Piercing, the good, the bad, the ugly...
my angel babies: 6/10 (chem. pg), 9/10 @ 10 weeks
It's not cultural for us, but we plan on getting them done in a few months.
I had mine done when I was 4 because I begged- and because my mom chickened out when I was a baby. Because I wasn't old enough to care for them myself and keep my hands off, they got infected alllll the time.
If DD has them when she is a baby, I can control it, take care of them and when she is older she will never know the difference.
If she doesn't like or want them when she is older, she can take them out and they will close up. It's not that big of a deal.
I was 5 and remember asking for it and it was a birthday gift. I will wait until she asks as well.
I think it's very cute though on baby girls but want her to have the same experience I had. I remember being very excited when I got it done.
I got mine done when I was 10 months...I took my 1st dd around 9 months and I will do the same with this dd. I like pierced ears on baby girls and I don't regret piercing my dd's ears.
Its easy to take care of them at this age since you already clean their ears after baths. Plus, they aren't perfect at grasping tiny objects so she never played with her earrings.
My dd cried for seriously 3 seconds tops and my mom said I never cried.
I had mine pierced when I was a baby and I am not traumatized from it. We got DD's done right after 3 months. She barely cried and they have been so easy to clean and take care of. My niece had hers done at age 2 and it was awful! She constantly played with them, pulled them out, and they stayed infected.
I don't regret the decision at all. I think she looks super cute!
