how much does your (almost) 2 YO weigh?

Just curious since DH took Audrey with him to the vet last week when Kelty had her annual check up.  They were trying to get Audrey involved and had her get on the doggie scale after Kelty.  SHe was only at 22 pounds!  She is usually right around 24 and was 22 at her 12 month visit, so I was wondering if she is just small or I need to make sure she eats MORE!

SHe is VERY active as anyone who sees her knows (Annette) so maybe she just burns up everything super fast.  This bout of the runs is not going to help her keep her weight up!

Just wondering if 22 pounds for an almost 2 year old is normal?

  • Their scale could be a little off too or different from the one at your dr's office... I weigh something different at my ww meetings, my dr and at the gym.  That said Cruz weighs around 23-24 lbs right now so I don't think 22 is super light.

  • When Mason was sick in March he weighed in at 25 lbs, and that was up 2 lbs from his 2 year appt.  She sounds right around where an active child would be.

WOW!! My 14 lb boy is going to be a MOOSE at 2 years. He is already half the weight of your kiddos and he is only 2 months old. I am going to have some serious mommy guns!!

  • OH MY GOD - I'm totally freaking out reading those responses.  DS is 13 months and weighs 25lbs.
  • I don't have an almost 2 year old but I have family that does.

H- he is 21 months and weighs 24lbs, the pedi told his mom that she needs to give me pedisure to bulk him up a bit.  He's pretty active though as well

M- she is 22 months and is around 30lbs I think.   She is really tall  too though.

DS- is almost 9 months and around 21lbs. LOL

  • DS is 15 1/2 mos and has hovered around 23-24 pounds for months. He weighed 20lbs at 6 months. Once they start moving they just burn what they eat. It's crazy and also nice you don't have to keep buying clothes all the time! :) I don't think she's too small. The best thing is to ask the pedi what her height/weight ratio is - that is the best indicator not individual weight or height percentages.

  • Ben was 68th % for weight at 2 years and 29lb 6oz.

You can go to https://www.mybirthcare.com/favorites/babygrowthchart.asp and plot your kid's growth - it will calculate the percentiles.  As long as your child is relatively consistent in the %'s after about 9 months, it's usually just fine.  Someone is small and someone is big.  They tend to find their groove in the 9-12 month time.  Oh, or this one is good if you just want a 1 time thing:  https://www.medcalc.com/growth/

Like Ben was born almost off the charts low, but by a year, he was pretty much a 50th% kid... and now he's in that same range... he's 31-ish pounds now at 2 1/2.

I just plugged in 22 pounds for a 2 year old girl and that's below the 5th percentile.   My guess is that scale was wrong.  Audrey doesn't look like a pipsqueak.

  • Yeah, but what's her BMI? DD just had her check-up and weighs 29 lbs, but she's off the charts for height, so it evens out.
  • I think hannah was 30lbs at her 2 year check up at the doctor's office, but weighing 33lbs on our home scale.  She now weighs 35lbs.  Keep in mind that she's at 95% for height so she's a TALL girl!

  • My DD is 22 months and she weighed just over 33 lbs a month ago. She is a big girl, and has consistently been 90 - 95% for both height and weight. A friend of ours DD just turned 2 and she weighed 22 lbs and their dr. said to start giving pediasure.
  • Caden weighed 30 lbs 3 oz (75th percentile) at his 2-year check-up.  But every kid is different and he was in the upper percentages for weight, height everything.
