Although I'm going to try BFing, I want to have some formula on hand at home in case I'm not producing enough or have trouble w/ BFing our twins in the beginning, before I can really get out to buy more. I have been getting some coupons from BRU in the mail & thought that it would be good to buy some using them but I dont have the slightest idea how to know what brand- is it one of those things like bottles where different babies like different kinds (and how do you know?) or do ppl base it more on cost, or what differentiates them? I'm clueless.

Re: buying formula before delivery, what brand(s)??
I signed up with Enfamil and Similac. Both mailed me sample cans. Enfamil was 2 cans of their most popular (yellow) and Similac was on regular (blue) and one soy (pink).
We are now on a special formula, but I did have those on hand in the beginning. Plus your pediatrician will give you samples, and the hospital will give you a sample from whomever you like. Take advantage because we went through 7 formulas before we found one that worked.
I'm hoping to rely on samples to find out what works and what doesn't (DH and I both had allergies to milk-based products when we were babies). ?Then I'll send out one of the grandmas to the store to pick some up. ?
I figure too if they're eating something at the hospital that works, we'll start with that and go from there. ?(I don't plan on being able to breastfeed due to poor family history of milk production/quality and surgery I had.)?

It is a great idea to have some formula on hand. You can sign up to get some free samples, your OB/GYN might have samples or you can ask your pediatrician if you already have one picked out.
Anyway, I breast fed Noah but those first few crazy nights when we were figuring stuff out we needed a little formula. We used Similac because my sister used it with her daughter and liked it. Plus, we could get more free samples of Similac through a family friend
