Scooting to Crawling?

I know every baby is different and all, but how long did your baby "scoot" before crawling? DD just started scooting yesterday, and my mother is freaking out saying (seriously) she will be crawling in a week. LOL

    DS is scooting on his butt and has been "crawling" backwards for a month now and so far we got no forward motion yet.

    Same here - DS has been scooting on his butt and "crawling" backwards.  He actually has been going backwards for like 1.5 months now, but the scooting on his butt just started last week.  Then Monday he pulled himself up to standing in his crib.  So part of me thinks the crawling will come soon, part of me thinks he may just walk!!

    DD starting scooting a month ago. She can get up on her hands and knees but she still hasn't officially crawled yet. She had discovered that she can pull herself to standing and scoot along furniture, which she prefers over scooting. I have a feeling she might skip crawling altogether.
