S/O Say yes to the dress...how much did yours cost?

And where did you buy it?

I paid $250 on eBay for a "worn just for pictures" Maggie Sottero. (It had a corset back and already had cups sewn in, so I looked chesty AND thin!)

I bought it at a small local bridal shop.

  • $450, but it was closer to $600 after alterations.  I bought it at a small wedding dress shop in town.

  • $600 + alterations. i don't care how much $$ you have, spending thousands on a wedding dress just seems silly to me. i loved my dress, but i'm glad i didn't (well, my parents) spend any more- it's still sitting upstairs in a guestroom closet, uncleaned and untouched - 2 years later!
  • I paid $500 at David's Bridal, but didn't have to have any alterations done!  Yeah!

  • mine cost $3200, I would have never spent that much but my mom paid. It was an Alvina Valenta and I got it at a local bridal shop.
  • $1500 alterations included ;-)

  • David's Bridal for $500

  • $750, new and from a high-end boutique store. It fit me the best and I loved it more than the other $1000+ dresses I had tried on. I lucked out!

  • $50 on Ebay.  Never worn, not a designer dress, but it was just what I wanted - simple and classic.  My mom added the beading around the waist.

  • $1900 on sale - Yikes! But it was BEAUTIFUL and the only dress that I fell in love with. My dad was buying it and he thought it was a ridiculous price and told my mom "can't she just find another one?" and then he surprised me and showed up one day when I went to try it on and said "you look like an absolute princess - you have to have THIS dress. We're buying it right now!" Aw! Sweet Daddy! :)

It was a Piccione - had a very vintage feel.

  • $165 off eBay new with tags Michaelangelo for David's Bridal (which retailed for $500 back in 2004).

  • it was $300 and on sale from david's bridal.  mom and i were going to purchase the vera wang i wanted the following week and decided to head to david's bridal in the mean time to see what styles were out there.  i bought my dress then and therel and i'm so happy i did.  i jumped into the pool at my reception and didn't think twice about it but in a designer dress i'd feel more hesitant (or should i say my mother would have felt more heistant lol).

i also did a trash the dress shoot and the thing got so dirty and torn up i ended up throwing it away.  i should work on that whole sentimentality aspect...

EDIT (here's a pic of it):

  • A little bridal shop I use to buy my prom dresses in high school; $1500.
  • $1,250.  DH biitched, but I think after talking to some of his engaged/married friends he learned it wasn't that much.  I know I could have spent less if I'd gone to David's, etc., but at the same time, I could have spent a lot more.  My dress was a Maggie Sottero (Mirabella) - I loved it.  My dream dress was an Alvina Valenta, but there is no way I could spend $5,000 on a dress... even if I could feasibly afford it!

  • 300$ on sale (half off) and it fit like a dream, I didnt need one alteration. Not even a hem!
  • $1500 on ebay for a once worn Monique L'huillier that originally cost $6000. I fell in love with it the second I saw it and never thought I could afford it new, so I thought I got quite a deal!

I am a seamstress, so I did all the alterations myself.?

  • $1500ish. I was lucky and did not have to purchase my dress as my mom was working part time at the bridal shop so she got a discount and the alterations/added beadwork at no cost. It was a Paloma Blanca.
  • $800 at a local bridal shop
  • $850 brand new from a little bridal shop.
  • I actually bought my dress and did the alterations at Kleinfelds (the place from the show).  It was @ 2k-  way too much in hindsight, but i LOVED it and it was in the low price area of that store which is crazy

  • I had two (so I could decide last minute). One was a $230 bridesmaid dress, the other a $230 off the rack formal dress. I never wanted a big, poofy white thing. Considering I actually got married (courthouse) in jeans, a sweater and Converse sneakers, a frou-frou dress for our family/friends ceremony seemed stupid.?
