Creative/Thoughtful Hostess Gift
My mom is throwing my baby shower this weekend and besides getting her a much needed gift card for a massage, I want to 'make/create' something thoughtful for her that's geared towards being a grandma (first grandchild).
She is the type of person who appreciates homemade gifts, like a scrapbook or something, more than something store bought. I was wondering if anyone has done anything like this or seen anything that might be what I am looking for?!

Ok, here are a few ideas I came up with.
Get one of those wooden or plastic frames from Michaels or other craft store and paint or decorate it, for her first pic with the baby.
Get a plain scrapbook and decorate the front for her. Then, give "coupons" for the pages, as she gets pics taken with her grandchild. You can make them throughout the year.
If she wears jewelry and doesn't mind costume stuff, get wire and the clasps and beads, from a craft store and make her a "grandma" bracelet or necklace.
Ok, can't think of anything else for now.
My sister made this for my mom and she loves it:
It's just a small, long block (almost like a 2X4, but not so wide) with a slit in the middle. She put a large metal sheet into the slit in the block so it stands up almost like a picture frame. She painted the block black and put white vinyl letters that say "grandchildren spoiled here". Then she added a bunch of cute magnets on the metal sheet to hold up pictures of grandkids (so far she only has two grandkids.) She found all the supplies at a craft store and put it together herself.

My shower is being hosted by my mom and MIL. I made each of them a "grandma" gift basket. I bought a pretty wicker basket and filled it with grandma books (both for kids and adults), picture frames, photo albums (to show off to their friends), grandma mugs, baby bibs/socks (stuffed inside mugs so they aren't empty), candles, a photo keychain, and a gift card.
I had to change a few items because my mom's a new grandma and MIL has other grandchildren.
This is such a cute idea!
