3rd Trimester

Top Crib Mattresses?

My husband and I went to Babies-R-Us last night too look at crib mattresses and we weren?t too pleased in their selection; sealy being one of them. Their mattresses seemed way to stiff. And do understand you don?t want a mattress being too soft being associated with SIDS but you want a mattress that?s firm enough for baby to be comfy.

I?ve been doing some research and I?m still somewhat confused in the top mattresses, Colgate being one of them? Curious to know your thoughts in this?

Re: Top Crib Mattresses?

  • i just got my colgate classica 1 the other day and it is so light and looks very well made.  i originally had a sealy mattress on my registry but i took it off after reading a bunch of reviews on the colgate.   the colgate is firm but doesn't seem stiff.  of course i'm a first timer so it hasn't been used yet, but so far i'm pleased with the choice.

  • I'm planning on getting this one from Costco. I need to order it one of these days.

Ditto! My DH is a crazed consumer reports research man, and this was the best he could find that wasn't $400 dollars.

Not to get all "crunchy" on you... but we decided the mattress is definitley something we need to go chemical free on. It's more expensive than most mattresses, but for me it's so worth it.

P.S. also make sure in your search that you have the right amount of coils! Should be at least 180 coils. The one linked above has 241. GL!
