Yes, all baby clothes have to be washed beforehand because of the chemical stuff they put on clothes to make it seem more appealing than it really is on the rack. It'll irritate the virgin skin of a baby.
Before you put them on the baby? I would say yes because you don't know where the clothes have been before you bought them and it's good to clean them of dirt and fibers so baby doesn't get a rash.
?Do you need to wash ALL of baby's clothes? No. We're just washing the clothes in size NB and 0-3. Everything bigger is in bins that we'll wash as the baby gets closer to that size.??
I'm only having newborn and 0-3 month stuff washed.
You have no idea who's touched the clothes, sneezed on them, if they were returns...etc etc etc. Then again I wash all my clothes before wearing them as well.
i am not washing them. i am washing sheets and things of that nature.. but i refuse to take the tags off things until she is here and i know what size she needs. i have seen plenty of moms NOT wash clothes, and never, ever heard of a baby having a terrible outcome from it.
when clothes are manufactured, they have stuff in the cloth to make it a little stiffer to help make sure a size X is a size X. it's called sizing, believe it or not. and kooky people (like my family) tend to have allergic reactions to some of those chemicals. most people don't.
but that's why you wash baby stuff before wearing. why take chances?
Also, use Dreft - its expensive but I heard it's worth it because of the ingredients in regular detergent. There are many coupons online. Just Google 'Dreft Coupons'.

can you buy it in Canada? I haven't heard of it before...
I just washed all the 0-3 and 3-6 months clothes, especially the onesies and blankets. Once babies are a little older you don't have to wash it. But everyone is different.
I didn't wash any for my first DS....and we never had a problem. And after he wore them, I used a regular detergent which was dye free and fragrance free which is what I normally use. I heard too many stories about people washing NB clothes only to have a big baby who NEVER wore any of them.
This time, I have washed the stuff I got at a consignment shop....but nothing that I know I washed before I put away last time, or someone handed me down or newly bought.
