3rd Trimester

Staying at the hospital....

anyone else anxious? I have never had a hospital stay, and have spent no more then 12 hours, for work, in one. I'm not really looking forward to the stay, which will hopefully only be 24 hours plus whatever the induction includes. If I have to have a csection and spend 3 days, I will go insane!!

All of this time and waiting on my hands, has  got me thinking about the silliest things!

Re: Staying at the hospital....

  • Well, you start getting creative after a few days.

  • I try not to think about it :(  Atleast our post partum area was just renovated and looks like a nice hotel..but to me it's still a hospital.
  • Well, I think sex is out of the question once the baby is delivered Wink
  • Hey now! The sex was for medical purposes only!!

And you will have your baby to entertain you. And shittons of visitors.

  •  I'm actually looking forward to the hospital stay. I'll only have one child to take care of instead of 4. I won't have to cook at all and people will bring me my food. Someone else is responsible for cleaning up after me. When my friends come to visit they will have zero expectations with how I look, what there is to eat, or how my room looks. People will constantly be asking how I feel or if I need help with anything. This sounds like a vacation to me.

DITTO!! I actually wrote in my birth plan that I wanted to stay in the hospital as long as possible Wink?

  • I'm also looking forward to my hospital stay!  I love my hospital.  I'll get to eat and sleep and lay around.  No kids to chase.  Only 1 diaper to change.  Only 1 to feed.

DH is staying home with the girls, so I have a few books to read.  I plan to send the baby to the nursery and take a sleeping pill and get actual sleep.  I can't remember the last time I had more than 3hrs in a night.

    I can't wait.

  • i'm not anxious, just dreading the extremely uncomfortable bed.  as our wedding present to each other my dh and i bought a king size sleep by numbers bed that can move up and down at the head and the feet of the bed.  oh. my. god.  knowing i'll have to spend some time away from that thing has me in tears.
  • I'm trying to view it as an adventure...instead of something to fear.  And it doesn't hurt that the L & D rooms look like hotel rooms, some even with huge spa tubs and we already picked the room we want that has a perfect view of the city.  :)

  • It's really not that bad - when you've got your brand new baby, you're not thinking about the fact that it's a hospital.  I was there 5 days (c-section) and it was great.  Believe it or not, I'm actually looking forward to doing it again (and that was my first hospital stay).

Yep...and you will be pretty busy figuring out what to do with a newborn...even if it's not your first.  I am afraid I may forget...
