My DH is an identical twin. When I first found out I was pregnant with DD he was hoping for twins because he thought it would be great to have twins.
Now, after having DD and knowing the amount of work that she takes he has completely changed his mind and says he doesn't know how his parents did it.
We have good friends that have quadruplets (through IVF) and their life truly amazes me! I could not even imagine taking care of 4 babies at the same time!

They run on DHs side of the fam. His brother was a twin (one died) and my only neice and nephew are twins (his sister's children, her first pregnancy). So, I don't think I have an increased chance (as I am also short and I heard taller women have a higher chance), but our children would have a higher chance I believe as they would be related to twins (and that was one of the facotrs).
At first it was my ultimate nightmare...I guess that's how I knew I wasn't ready for children, b/c now that I can't wait, I would LOVE a two-for.
Absolutely yes. My sister has twins and I think it would be awesome. I've always wanted 2 kids, but DH says he only wants 1 kid, so twins would work for me.

No. I think I would freak out on a daily basis if I had *2* babies to care for at one time. Especially when DH would return to work. I would be all alone! Everybody that is in my family still have full time jobs.
Lapband wife wanting a baby since 2008.
162lbs lost...30 more to go.
I love the idea of twins but it wouldn't be my first choice. My brother has twins and they are awesome but SIL was so much more uncomfortable during her pregnancy with the twins than with the single. It was also a lot of work to get them on a schedule. They are so cute and have such a great relationship with each other.
I would be concerned that I would not be able to work as long as I plan up until the birth and would not be able to go back to work after the birth. My u/s is next week so I am looking for the confirmation of one peanut!
DH and I both have two sets of twins on each side of the family so twins are a definite possibility. I honestly have to say that I wouldn't mind if that happened.
M/C #1 - BFP 12/28/2008. Confirmed m/c at 6wks - blighted ovum on 1/9/2009.
M/C #2 - BFP 6/16/2009. Confirmed m/c at 7wks - blighted ovum on 7/1/2009.
I am a twin and they run in my family on at least two sides (my dad's mom and my mom's mom...not sure about the two grandpa's) and I have read that I am at a great chance to conceive twins because they run in my family, I am one, I am older (nearly 35), tall (5'9") and overweight. We shall see about that...
Financial considerations aside, one of my friends was KU with twins and she was really uncomfortable in her pregnancy. At 5'10" she had the stature to carry them, but she was just huge by 6 months KU! My poor mother is 5'6" and was a size 6 when she got KU with us...before she delivered (we came at 35 weeks) she had a 55' waist. EEK!
At this point, I'd just be happy to get KU, but if I had to choose, I wouldn't want to have twins.
BTW, as I understand it, it's the woman's family history that determines increased likelihood of twinning...the man's side has nothing to do with it. Either you drop two eggs that are met with two sperm (fraternal) or you drop one egg that is fertilized and then splits (identical).
Re: If you knew they would be healthy and zero risks..

I would love twins. Or any other multples. My DH and I know that we want at least four kids, so two sets of twins would get it over with. HAHA.
Obviously I can't choose, and it doesn't run in either of our families. So I guess for me it's just a matter of praying...
