Trying to Get Pregnant

If you knew they would be healthy and zero risks..

Would you like to have twins?  Like in a make believe world where you could make the decision.

My DH is obsessed with this idea.  He had some dream or something about us having twins.  And I told him the chances of twins are slightly increased with clomid (stupid me).  Now that we are approaching our 8th month TTC, I think he wants a two for one special and never have to TTC again.  I would die!

Do twins run in your family, and do you secretly want them like my DH?

  • They run in my family on my side in 4 places....and I was on clomid...and I have one baby in there so far. :-)

We wanted as many as we got....and will take as many as we get in the future. :-)

  • I would not want twins primarily because the financial burden would be too much to bear at this point in my life. I can't imagine the cost of full time daycare for 2 infants at the same time.
  • I would secretly love to have twins, I would also be done having children if that happens.  My uncle (my dad's brother) and his wife have twin boys and they were so cute growing up.

  • If it happens, it happens, but I don't think I secretly want it.

I think of all the cuteness coming at once and how cool it would be for them to have a sibling so close but then I think of all of the costs of having two at once and it scares me to death. ?

  • I definitely would. They run on both sides of my family and DH's.?
  • honestly even though I will take whatever I can get, I ideally only want to have 1 at a time.

  • Yes, definitely! There are 3 sets of twins on my side (my grandma is an identical twin) and DH's dad is an identical twin as well.
We would both love to have them!

BUT . . . we would be equally as excited to have just 1 at a time too!

  • If it happens I would be thrilled. But I'm not hoping for twins.

  • After my SIL had their twin boys, I dont think I could handle it!  They are so opposite, and are Everywhere. My BIL tells me everytime we are together, I hope you have twins!  I smile and say yes I will take what I  get!!

  • yes if there were no risks and no worries I would love to have twins, I've always wanted twins. but there are no wins in either of our families (not that it matters for DH)
  • I am a twin and I would love for my children to have that experience. ?It is truly amazing. ?

My parents were not financially ready at all for two children when my brother and I were born....but they said you figure it out and buy in bulk! Smile?

  • I have twins and I LOVE it! Good Luck to you, whatever the number...
  • I would love twins!!!

and dh's parents are both a twin. I dont know if that increases are chances at all, but I secretly hope so.

Exactly why I would die!  I mean it would force me to be a SAHM.

  • That's really sweet that he is obsessed over it! I also like the whole "2 for the price of 1" but I doubt it will happen for us, even if we are on clomid. Who knows though; I eat yucca (cassava) all the timeSmile I remember reading somewhere that it is supposed to help conceive twins.

  • Not me.  Of course, I'll be thrilled with whatever we are blessed with, but I think I'd like to be pregnant more than once in my life (DH is very adamant about only "replacing ourselves in the population").

NO! I just want to push out one, thanks. I can't imagine trying to juggle two babies.

  • If I could determine what I had and when and know that they would be safe along with myself, I would love to have twins. I think both my husband and I would love that. He is a twin himself and loved that special bond that him and his brother have. I have sisters that twins, and they too share this amazing bond. I would love to be pregnant with twins or only one baby though. Whatever god chooses to bless us with is what we will be happy with. I just really want at least one child. I have had dreams about giving birth to twins though. weird

  • In that world where I could choose, I would love twins, or triplets even! haha. I know I am nuts but with the issues we have I have been thinking it would be perfect if we had twins or triplets and then I wouldn't have to put my dh through TTC with MFI more than once!?

  • It means only needing to lose the baby weight once! :)

They run in my family, and I have always wanted fraternal twins, boy/girl.

I wouldn't care what I got, though, healthy is all I'm aiming for.

  • Honestly, no I would not like to have twins.  DH on the other hand prayed for twins even though they don't even run in our family!!

THIS. After my betas we really started to wonder if there were two and I had a little freakout. It sounds fabulous until you really start to think about the expense and how hard those first few years would be.

  • Twins to order with no risks guaranteed?

    Hell yes. Count me in.

I'm farking old TTC#1.....so this fantasy doublemint idea works for me! :)

  • I would love to have twins. I would like fraternal twins maybe like a boy a girl. My dad is a fraternal twin so there is a small chance for us.

  • Not really. I mean, I wouldn't be opposed to it if it happened naturally, but no, I wouldn't choose to have twins. One of my best friends has 4-year-old twin girls and, let me tell you, taking care of them in their infant years was rough for her. She said it was just really hard and she was exhausted and harried all the time and just didn't quite feel like she was able to enjoy the experience of new motherhood. She loves them more than anything but she said it was almost too much. Now that they're older, she says they're easier and she feels like she has more time to enjoy them more (though, to me, they seem like they're at a harder age now). In any case, after watching her for the last four years, no, twins are not something that I would willingly choose to have. And that's not even taking into consideration the financial impact they would have.

All that said, now that I'm pregnant, I will gratefully accept whatever the Good Lord decides to bless us with.

  • No twins in our families, so it's highly unlikely that if we conceive on our own we will have them. But growing up I thought the idea would be nice. One & done would be wonderful! Because, I really don't want to have just one child.

lol!I I feel like this whole week I have been in la la land. I would love to see twin bouncing baby cathys!

  • No, I'm happy to be having only one baby.  If we would have had twins, of course we would be happy but I'm relieved it is only one.

***************************** Our beautiful daughter was born in October 2009. Turns out she was quite the miracle. After two years of TTC, diagnosed with DOR. A couple of failed treatment cycles later, we decided to let go of our hope for more biological children and explore adoption.
  • My DH is like yours--I know he'd love to have twins. Part of me would love it, but the larger, more sensible side knows it would not be an ideal situation!

  • No, I don't have a desire to have twins.
  • I would love to have twins. There are a few sets of twins and I think one set of natural triplets (meaning no IF drugs or procedure involved) on my maternal grandmother's side of the family.
  • Twins would be great!  Fraternal twins would be even better!

  • I definitely would NOT want to have twins.. too much expense, and I honestly think identical twins are kind of creepy. hehe. :) My dh would love to have twins and be done, but I think being pregnant is part of the whole experience I'd want more than once.
