XP: Pigeon Toes

My DS has what I consider fairly severe pigeon toes and also bowed legs.  He reminds me of one of those little wind up toys we had when we were kids where it's feet looked like a sideways "H" and it had to step halfway over the H every time it took a step, kwim??

Anyway, I asked the pedi at their last appt (at 12 months) and she said that it was just how he was built and that the more he walked and stood the stronger and straighter his bones would get.  I think it's getting worse instead of better.  He's constantly tripping himself, and I'm starting to get concerned.  He has a height growth check nurse visit 5/4 or something, but their 15 month visit isn't until June.  Do you think I should make a special appointment for something like that or just wait until his 15 month appointment?  I'm not one of those that runs to the pedi all the time, I tend to put it off and think whatever it was will fix itself so I think I am in over my head here, LOL!  Besides, I don't even know what the remedy is for something like pigeon toes.

Here are a couple of pics of his feet, so you can get an idea of the severity.  If anyone else has any experience I'd love to hear it.  Thanks!!!

Re: XP: Pigeon Toes

  • My dd's left foot turns in like that (your 2nd pic) and she falls all the time too (see my post below "is is only MY kid....)

Pedi said it would fix itself around 2.  I was concerned b/c my dh was born with club feet and wore braces till he was like 4, but she said she doesn't have club feet.  No intervention necessary...

I think dd has bowed legs too, but lately they have seemed to get better.
