Favorite childhood books?

What were some of your favorite books your parents read to you as a child? I'm trying to make a list of books to keep an eye out for and it's been fun remembering but I know I'm missing a lot of good ones!

  • Oh and here at the daycare the kids LOVE chika chika boom boom
  • afgafg member
Hansel and Gretel was my favorite story.
  • I loved the Poky Little Puppy, the Frances books (like "A Bargain For Frances) and some book called April's Kittens.  (Not real helpful because I don't remember the author, but it had the most beautiful charcoal drawings.)

I'm feeling the slightest bit bad because my poor kid is going to be pretty deprived.  I hate Dr. Suess (have my entire life) so I will not be buying a single one.  I guess I will let DH read the ones that are given to us, but I fully intend to avoid them the best that I can.

  • Good Night moon and alllllll the Sesame Street books!! My Mom still has them and is splitting them in between my Sister and I for our kids : )

  • We have started our collection with Dr. Seuss classics, Shel Silverstein's Giving Tree, Light in the Attic, and Where the Sidewalk ends, and each of our favorites from Childhood - mine is But No Elephants by Jerry Smath, his is The Tawny Scrawny Lion.  He also got Fox in Socks as a favorite as well.
