what will/do your LO(s) call your adult friends?

DH and I need to discuss this, but I'm wondering what others do.  I'll need to get myself in practice before A ever starts talking.

Re: what will/do your LO(s) call your adult friends?

  • Auntie and Uncle first name for bffs; mr. and ms. first name for everyone else.
  • Whatever my friends want them to call them.  For many of them aunt or uncle _______, but also many just go by their first names, no Mr. or Mrs.  I let my friends' kids call me Colleen if their parents are comfortable with that.

  • I would think first names for our closest friends.  I know I called some of my parents' friends Mr. and Mrs., so maybe I'll change my mind when he starts talking.

us too, especially if they are close friends...we can iron out the details later...like when they are 15 and wanna date their "cousin" or something, and we get to tell them they aren't really cousins! LOL

  • I haven't really decided yet.  I know when I was in grade school I'd call my friends parents Mr./Mrs. last name.  So when he's older that's probably what we'll have him do.  Not sure when he's first learning how to talk though.

  • AuntUncle + first name...Mr.Mrs. for other...I really don't care for first name only...its a respect thing...we grew up in my family yes mam no sir, and Mr. last name...I don't want to be that strict but not casual either...they are after all adults and not the child's friend...
  • We have a couple that we are really close.  Their real names are Ryan and Marley.  Marley already has 3 nephews and she's known to them as Tete.  SO we just let our oldest daughter call her Tete and Ryan is known as Rere.
  • for really close friends - it's Aunt/Uncle first name, or just plain Auntie/Uncle (without names until they can remember their individual names)

for my parents friends, it'll be Mr/Mrs Last Name

  • Where I grew up everyone called the adults by their first names, but it seems that around here more adults want to be called Mr/Mrs Lastname.  DH's parents always went by that, and ideally that's what he would like us to be called.  We discussed this the other night though, and decided to go with what everyone else in our neighborhood goes by - we don't want to be the weirdos who are either too strict or too loose.
