Do you check on your sleeping child?

I typically check on DD once during the night (betwen the time she goes to bed and I go to bed), sometimes right before I go to bed and usually when I get up. Just making sure she's alright, not tangled or anything. I think DH thinks it's odd that I check on her....is it? Do you still check on DC?

Re: Do you check on your sleeping child?

  • I go in after he falls asleep to cover him up, typically right before I go to bed. We have a video monitor so I never go in otherwise unless he needs me because I can see him at all times. Without the video monitor I'd probably be in there 1200 times per night.

  • Yep, about 30 minutes after she goes down and two or three times before I zonk out at the end of the night.  It's our motherly instinct.  LOL-

  • Well yes, because my DD stops breathing when she has seizures.

    I'm paranoid...but rightfully so.?

  • No, I don't.  I do in the morning though to make sure he is still doing good before I hop in the shower.

  • No, because we have a video monitor.
  • All the time...but that's because we co-sleep and I am a terrible sleeper so I am up a lot at night.

  • No, if I open his door he wakes up.  He is a heavy breather so I can hear him on the monitor.

  • God bless you, amajames and your little girl. ?

?I also check my daughter before I go to sleep for the night. ?We lost our first child to SIDS. ?She is far past the risk age, but I can't help the paranoia.?

I can't imagine how hard that would be. I also don't think that it's paranoia at all...you're doing better then I would be.  I don't know how I would ever sleep.

  • I still check on her a couple times during the night...DH will check at least once

This!  I can't imagine how often I'd be up and down to check on her if she slept in her room.

  • I usually check to make sure she is covered up and to kiss her goodnight/goodmorning.
  • Yes, before I go to bed and if he's not up before I get in the shower. ?But we live in an apartment so we can hear him pretty well anywhere in the house.

  • Wow, I feel like a bad mommy.  DD has always been a terrible sleeper and is up a lot at night so I am with her every couple of hours usually.  On the good nights that she sleeps for longer periods, I don't check on her.  I assume all is well if she's still asleep.  The door opening wakes her up and I'm always afraid to wake the sleeping baby.

  • Yes, I go in before I go bed.  My husband puts her to sleep, so I always go in and say goodnight.
