Blankets are a suffocation hazard... why would I put one in my crib? I don't want my child to suffocate.
Yes, that is my evil plan. Seriously...
You should rename your post, "am I the only one that wants my child to suffocate??"
She's obnoxious.
Yeah, I agree. Trying to prevent something bad from happening to my child is obnoxious. Safety is just annoying.
Did you even read my post? My kid sleeps on his side. When he wakes up, he rolls onto his back, therefore, the blanket gets kicked off.
I am concerned with safety, as well, but I also use common sense from time to time.
What are you even talking about? I don't care how your kid sleeps or why you use a blanket. I just told you why we don't use one. What does common sense have to do with your post? It's common sense because he rolls on his back? My DS can do more than just roll, and has since he was 4 months old, so a blanket is a safety hazard. We don't want him to suffocate, so we took everything that can cause suffocation out of his crib.
We cosleep and I usually cover DD with a blanket while she nurses, because it helps her calm down and know it's bedtime, but the last thing she does before she falls asleep is kick off the blankets, haha.

No, it's your delivery that's obnoxious. Maybe think about how things come across to people.
Yeah, I think in this case the delivery is the problem. The implication is that if you put a blanket in your crib, you WANT your kid to suffocate. Nobody is trying to off their kid at night.
Yeah... I don't think you are trying to kill your kids, but not wanting our child to suffocate is the only reason he doesn't have a blanket in his crib, and will never have a blanket in his crib. It's not safe.
I used a sleep sack for DS, but he started to sweat alot in his sleep so now I just use a blanket, and he kicks it off . I think he likes to be uncovered half the time anyways.
We have pillows and a blanket in his crib. He is a cuddler just like his Mama. I have werid children that purposely pull blankets and pillows over their eyes to hide and sleep like that. It freaked me out at first, but now it is just routine.
Is my ds the only one who moves around all over his crib? He could never have a blanket, it would be pointless because he moves everywhere! He still uses a sleep sack and he can move fine, he can even stand in it.
Ditto this. She moves around fine in the sleep sack. It's actually pretty funny - very Maggie Simpson-esque. A blanket would be useless.

Blankets are a suffocation hazard... why would I put one in my crib? I don't want my child to suffocate.
Obviously anyone who uses a blanket wants their child to suffocate!
Yeah... they're a suffocation hazard for tiny babies who do not yet have the wherewithall to move their faces away from the blanket, and cannot roll or move much. They're fine for older babies.
No. They aren't fine for older babies. All of the research I've done indicates that it is safer to hold off on blankets until they are not in a crib at all. We are pretty big on safety in our house, and that's why we won't use one until our kids are in toddler beds. The temperature in our house is regulated to account for the weather and clothing, so I have no need for a blanket.
I'm going to be the unpopular one here and agree 100% with ABM. I've done the research as well and I'm going to just keep dressing my dd appropriately rather than use a blanket. I have nothing against those that do, it is just not something I will do.
I'm also going to agree with her when she admitted that the delivery sucked.
Well, we are not big on safety around here at all. I don't even have those big cushy corner covers on all of my windowsills. If he falls and pops and eyeball out, oh well! He'll learn his lesson before he does it to the other one. I like to throw and many blankets in there as possible and see if he survives the night. It's just survival of the fittest around here.
Well, he'd be on a perfect start to his career as a pirate, best to get used to that eyepatch quickly, you know.
I suspect many would faint if they saw what T has in her crib. Puppies and monkeys and blankies OH MY!
ABM, you seriously don't think your older crib-sleeping child is not going to want to take one of his blankets to bed? an almost 2 year old (for some kids who arent in beds yet) are not going to have one problem with blankets, etc.
we started using a blanket a few weeks ago. It goes up to her waist, and I tuck the sides in between the mattress and sides. She doesn't really move when she's asleep, and for some reason her room is FREEZING at night...no matter what the house temp is set at. We can't figure out why...

wow, i'm siding with the people that are saying your delivery is obnoxious ABM. it definitely comes across as holier then thou and accusatory.
we use a blanket for DS. my pedi said it was fine once he could roll over completely as long as it was a light weight blanket.
Yes, the delivery is most indeed the problem. ?
