Thoughts on a "weird" middle name..

A little back story: DH and I had 2 names for DS1 picked out... the first one Alex (which is a family name) and the second Axel. I was too chicken to use Axel, and since Alex is a family name, it's what we used. It definitely fits DS1, but part of me still kind of wishes we had used Axel.. I just love the name, even though I don't have any German/Scandanavian roots or reason to like the name (not a huge fan of Axl Rose or anything). Although, I did have a slight crush on the norwiegen (spl?) skier during the winter olympics- but his was spelled Aksel (I think).

So, would you guys use it as a MN? DH doesn't think it flows well with Jesse (which is our top first name pick), but he also doesn't want to give DS2 a middle name at all, and won't even offer up options. What do you guys think? Is it too weird?

I like it. I also think Jesse Axel sounds great together, but does it sound good as Jesse Axel Last Name?

My grandma told me my last pregnancy get you a pen and paper and just write it a few times a day and in a week time you will know if you like it or not. GL

We have a "weird" last name (hispanic), but it still sounds good (to me at least). I love the pen/paper idea

If you like it, then why not use it? Nobody really needs to know the middle name. My daughter is Phoebe Snow (last name White) and no one other than family and close friends know. And the daycare, because it's on her birth certificate.

We picked a different name for DS#1...his name is Strummer. We were trying to pick a middle name and were torn between two. A friend of mine told us to d the yelling test: Go to the top of the stairs and have DH downstairs. Yell the name downstairs as if you just found out your kid drew on the walls.....STRUMMER THOMAS JOHN! She said you just know when its right LOL. We tried it just for fun and thats actually how we deced on a double middle name!
