3rd Trimester

What does "early labor" mean????

So last night my little guy was moving around like CRAZY for about 3 hours straight.  I then thought that maybe, just maybe, my water broke in my sleep.  Then this morning, I starting having what felt like contractions every 7-8 minutes for a couple of hours. Now I'm not feeling them at all. The dr. told us to come in. He examined me and said that I am in the early stage of labor. What exactly does that mean? I'm sure it's different for everyone, but does that mean a few hours, a few days?  He also kept stressing over and over that if I felt a decrease in movement at all to call him. This made me a bit nervous. Any advice or suggestions would be great. Already just got back from a nice long walk :)

  • Early labor is the first stage of the labor process. I don't know too much about it but I read up about it here...

It is supposed to last anywhere from 2 hours to 24 hours or more. You won't be able to ignore the contractions once the next stage kicks in. Try and get some rest and eat now while you can. Good luck with the rest of your labor. I wanna see some pics posted of the baby when he/she is born. :-)
