Do you wake your baby to feed during day and night?

My DS is 1 month old and is having no trouble gaining weight. I have been waking him up every 3 hours to eat during the day and letting him wake me up at night. Just wondering if I should be waking him during the day or letting him feed on demand then as well. He is usually feeding bw 7-8 times a day.
Thanks

  • Once your baby has gained back birthweight you can let them go.  Although you might not want him to go too long during the day without eating b/c he might try to make it up overnight.

  • DD is also a month old. I feed on demand. I've never woke her up to eat. She was 8lbs 14 oz at birth. At her 1 week appt she was 9 lbs 1 oz and today at her 1 month check she was 10 lbs 10 oz, so it's obvious she's gaining weight and my doctor had no concerns.
