I think my baby is ready for solids, but so far, he has not liked the purees we have tried. We have only tried Earth's Best and we only did apples and sweet potatoes. Did your baby have a brand preference? The apples taste pretty bad from EB.
we have only tried the gerber and I mainly chose it because it costs less. we started with Apples first and mixed it with the rice cereal. Did apples for about 2 wks befor moving to sweet potato.

Definitely Beechnut. I wanted to use Earth's Best and could not find a store w/any sort of selection at all. Gerber is so watery.
I had a good coupon so got a few jars of Beechnut. I've tasted everything that i've fed DD so far and everything tastes like the real thing, even the meat items, believe it or not. Fab selection, its' not watery, no preservatives, and only 49cents a jar at all of my local groceries.
We've tried all 3 and Beech Nut is best...Gerber's is fine too but like a PP mentioned, it's a little watery. We thicken it up with a little rice cereal though and it does fine.

We've been giving a combo of some table food and Beechnut. DD is a Beech Nut snob lol. Her first table foods were mashed ripe banana and bland mashed potatoes. Now it's pretty much what we're eating w/in the allergen limits.
She will tolerate the gerber with cereal added, but she wretches and knee jerks when we've tried anything organic, even Sprout.
This is hear say, an IRL friend of mine has a 19month old with a feeding tube and his dietician told my friend that Beechnut is the healthiest non-organic jarred food.
Re: BeechNut/Gerber/EarthsBest...which puree did your baby prefer?
I actually want to do homemade, I just wanted to find what he likes first. I am afraid to do all the work and not be able to use what I make!
Gerber and Earths Best
moving to homemade though.

We just started and I had Gerber coupons so I bought that. I also bought some EB, but we haven't used any yet.
I did a sweet potato on my own the other day, and froze the leftovers. He ATE IT UP!

i've used all 3, in addition to homemade. dd is not picky. she has eaten all of them w/out any problems.
