I read some of your stories about how horrible your LOs sleep and I feel lucky that my little guy only wakes up 1-2x a night (which is tough enough on me).
So lately he's back to 1x a night--anywhere from 2:30am to 4:30am he will wake up--and eat---and EAT....and EAT.....and then he's right back to sleep no problem. So I seriously think he's just hungry. He's a big guy--and although he's eating 2 meals a day plus lots of bottles during daycare---it's just not enough to sustain him through the night. He typically goes to sleep around 8pm or so (anywhere from 7:30-8:30) -while nursing.
So is it worth trying to go through the pain of Ferber or other sleep training techniques or could he REALLY be that hungry and NEEDS the food? I obviously have a lot to read up on and learn about the reasons for it all--but my gut is saying this little one is hungry. I just don't want to let this go on for too long and have a 2 year old that is getting up to eat snacks in the middle of the night ![]()

Re: Would YOU sleep train for this??
No I would not. ? We did some sleep training last month because Lily had forgotten how to self sooth and was waking 5-6 times a night. ?We got her back down to once a night to nurse and I am going to let her drop it when she is ready.??
i say no. If he is eating that much, then he is hungry.
i wouldn't. i would only sleep train if dc was suffering from lack of sleep.
I am in the same boat and I have not yet. He wakes up once a night Between 3 and 4:30 and drinks 8oz and goes right back to sleep. It is not like he is snacking...he is hungry. He eats 2 solid meals a day and has 32 to 40 oz of formula a day. he is just a big boy!
I have read Ferber and the No Cry Sleep Solution and but am not ready to try yet. He has STTN a few times over the last few weeks so I know he can do it. But I am hesitant to try one of these methods just yet. I think he will drop it on his own when he is ready. So I can deal with the one wake up. Go with your gut...whatever feels right for you.
Ferber does not suggest you cut him off cold turkey, but instead that you add a half an hour to the start of each feeding. So if he wakes up at 2 to eat, when he wakes up the next night, you hold him off until 2;30, then 3, until he evenually doesn't have a night time feeding. Just an FYI.
