Babies: 0 - 3 Months

When do they start laughing?

DS smiles all the time now and makes cooing noises when he does it.  I feel like he's close to laughing but I don't know when the average age for that is.

You're probably right on the cusp.

DS had a little chuckle - and I do mean little - at 7w.  He's just now starting to really giggle and crack up.

  • Around 3 months DD would laugh and every now and then giggle. At 4 months she was doing it all the time. It takes some coaxing but it is adorable.
  • not yet here...she's giggled a couple times over the past few days...I have been waiting for this milestone for what seems like forever...I can't wait!
  • DD just started, it isn't a full giggle yet, more like a chuckle.
  • My six month old started laughing around 4 months with a lot of effort. ?I mean we had to act like complete fools or do something that involved her moving quite a bit. ?At 6 months, it is the SAME story. ?She smiles and vocalizes all day long, but to get a laugh, we have to put on a dog and pony show. ?And it is a very uncoordinated laugh. ?I worry she will sound this way forever! ?But it is kind of cute.
  • dd has started giggling in her sleep....its so cute but i want her to giggle at me!
  • DS laughs now, but I've only gotten big laughs once. Mostly chuckles, but he's recently become ticklish and that'll get him giggling.

DS started to chuckle occasionally somewhere between 2 and 3 months. About a month ago, DH got a full on giggle out of him and until last week we'd get a giggle a few times a week. Now we get them daily :)
