So I've read that the amniotic fluid changes "flavor" based on what you eat. When do you think this happens...time wise (not weeks)? I noticed today that the baby would be completely still and then every time I ate (or drank my smoothie) about 20 mins later, the baby was kicking for quite a bit and then would go back to relaxing (no kicks). Think this was from what I was eating or just coincidence? Food takes about 20 mins to digest right, so would it be the same for it to "flavor" the amniotic fluid (that sounds gross!)??
Re: Baby tasting what I taste...
I could be very wrong, but none the less I'll give it a stab.
I think that while the fluid's flavor may change, I don't think that's the reason for the increase of activity. I would say that because you're digesting the food that s/he getting the increase in sugar...which is making the baby more active.
But I really don't know...it's just my guess.
Today was a little different because he usually doesn't move after I eat. His schedule is all day long at work up until lunch (not after) and then not really again until I lay down in bed.
Besides my smoothie, everything else I ate was spicy.....sandwich with jalapenos, flamin hot cheetos and last night when he moved soon after dinner it was tacos loaded with spicy, spicy homemade salsa - nothing sugary.
Shoot, I know I read about it recently in my Pregnancy Week by Week book, but I can't remember exactly when it was. After 20 weeks though.
And my kid went absolutely bonkers after I ate Twizzlers. It was hilarious.
