Babies: 9 - 12 Months

How much do you spend on baby clothes?

I'm having buyer's remorse because I don't know how long his new 12-month stuff will last. I'm thinking it will last longer (hopefully) than the earlier sizes. I spent about $450, but that includes everything (bathing suit, hats, socks, onsies long sleeved and short, shirts, pjs, shorts, pants, etc.) because I didn't have one item in that size. Up until this point I had gift clothing. The most I spent was like $150 around X-mas time for 9 month clothes.

So how much do you spend, per size do you think?

  • We haven't spent a lot so far since it's been winter 4ever. But once we need summery outfits, I've set aside $600 for onsies,  shoes, hats, jackets etc...b/c we'll need cool & warm clothes at the same time for about 2.5 months. I wish it was either hot or cold!!

  • That's tough to answer. I have found, so far, that she's in the 12 month size the longest.  I tend to do one big buy and then pick things up.  However, I have a friend who works at Old Navy so I get that discount.  We also have a great outlet mall near us and I go there to do my big shopping.  If I had to guess I'd say I've spent (since Dec when we started w/the 12 month size) about the same as you.

  • It's hard to say because one of my BFFs has a little boy who was born within days of Ben - but 2 years earlier, so she has given me ALL of her stuff.  A co-worker of mine has given me a ton of his son's stuff too.  All of it has been in great shape.  So, I haven't had to buy much.

If you can afford what you bought and think that he will wear all of it, I'd try not to worry about what you spent.

  • I want to say that I spent about $300-$350 for his 6-9mos stuff. DS has about 12-15 outfits. And I bought 95% of the stuff on clearance from last season. I already bought him stummer stuff probably spent about the same and I have already started to buy for next winter. I'm 3/4 way done with getting his 12-18mos stuff, just need a few more things.

  • Honestly I have no idea. I am a pretty agressive shopper for DD plus we got a lot of gifts.  I bought a 75 dollar dress for DD today for a wedding but other than that I am very cost savvy and generally shop sales.  I think I have spent 600 dollars for DD since she was born and I have enough clothing for her until at least 18 months!  And I should mention all of her onesies are petit bateau which isn't cheap.
  • I'm sure I've spent about $100 total on him.  MIL is a yard sale queen, and I've taken almost all the clothes she's given me.  I also shop at second hand stores and Target.
  • I haven't had to spend a whole lot at all, to be honest. My niece is 6 months older than DD so i've been getting tubs and tubs of outgrown clothes... I also do still have clothing that we received as gifts.

The clothes that I do buy, though, are all either on clearance, on sale at the outlets, or bought with gift cards or money I saved from selling her old clothes on ebay.

I probably haven't spent more than $200 total since she was born.

  • A ton. Honestly, I don't want to even admit it publicly, it's that bad. I FLOVE buying him clothes and love stores that are on the pricier side, Janie and Jack being my fave.
  • Fortunately, my BFF has a DD that's 18 months older than mine, so I get ALL of her handmedowns, and they are all just very gently used.  Aside from those and what we recieved as gifts when DD was born, I only spend maybe $15-20 here and there (and that's all from the Target clearance racks).   This weekend I bought two new outfits there for a total of $8.
  • I must be a good shopper or maybe my DS has less clothes compared to other kids, because i've spent a lot less than that. Maybe $150 per size. I'm a big sale/outlet shopper when it comes to baby clothes, and usually shop at Old Navy, Baby Gap, and Carters. For summer he will need some extra stuff like bathing suits and shorts so it may be a little more.

  • We've personally spent about $150 in the lat 6 months. ?But between my mom and MIL probably 75-150/ month depending on how close she is to the next size.
