How many ultrasounds? (poll)

Just curious.....how many ultrasounds have you had throughout your pregnancy? I know some doctors only do 1 or 2. Some do a lot more than that. Did you get pictures or a DVD of them?

I've had 12 (get one at each appointment) and the doc puts them on a DVD for me. How about you guys??

We've had four. Two standard, one to check his feet and heart, and one to find out what position he's in. We get photos.

We've had 3: one at 8w to date the pregnancy, one at 22w for anatomy/measurements and one at 31w for growth/position. We get pics every time.

I've had some complications. So far there have been 5 and I have sixth next week. There's a good chance there will be a seventh one. We've gotten pictures at every one.

I've had 13, my last one being yesterday. I had some complications early on, so I got more than most. I have pictures from all but two, one in the ER after a big scare (we weren't even allowed to look at the screen), and the one yesterday (the baby wasn't cooperating in the cramped conditions and refused to give us a profile).

I've had health problems throughout, but it is my understanding that my doctor does an ultrasound for every patient, every visit. He has several machines in his office.

I was just wondering if that is normal. I'm not complaining....I love seeing my baby so much. I'm just worried that I'm getting spoiled. If I ever have to go to a different doctor for a future pregnancy, I won't know what to do!!

I have had five so far and have another this week. We had some complications around 20ish weeks.

With my DD I only got one.

You are being spoiled....enjoy seeing your baby!.....it always makes for a good doctors visit=) I always look forward to ultrasounds......well....except for running to the bathroom afterward=)

I've had 4 and will likely have 1 more. 1 at NT scan, 1 at anatomy scan (got a DVD of that one), and 2 early, at 7 and 9 weeks to "check for viability" after 2 previous losses. We've gotten pictures at all of them. My placenta was low-lying during my anatomy scan so they will probably do one more to check its position.

With DS #1: I had a dating one early on, then the anatomy scan at 18 weeks, then I had a day where he didn't move and they did a NST and an U/S, then I had preterm labor at 33 weeks and 5 days and they did another one to check the amniotic fluid levels.....so, 4.

With DS #2: I had a dating one at 7 weeks, then one at my doc appointment at about 13 weeks because we couldn't hear the HB, the anatomy scan at 19 weeks, and then I will have another at 32 weeks because they found my placenta lying low at the 19 week scan and they want to see it's position. That should be it....so 4 at this one.

I have gotten pictures from most, but not all. And if I hadn't had some complications, then I would have only had 2 U/S with both.

from what i hear most places don't make you do that anymore. i've had US's at 2 places and neither said they make you have a full bladder. sucks you have to sit there like that!

My MW does one every visit, but it's an old machine and we don't get pictures. I also went to a radiology place to get my anatomy one at 18 weeks and that's the only one we got pictures from. It's neat to see him every month!

With my first son I had them a lot because I had GD and he was breech. So I would guess that I had about 10 when all was said and done.

With this pregnancy, I have had two. One at 13 weeks and the other at 20 weeks. I don't think I'll have another one unless they are worried about something.

i've had 5 and will prob have 7 total. 3 is standard but we have had some issues (low heart rate, car accident, measuring ahead)

I've only had one at 20 weeks. We did get pictures, but no DVD. I will probably have a growth scan at 38 weeks, but that's it!

We've had 4, I think. ?We had early ones because of a previous loss. ?Then we had one when we changed to this doctor's office (because we moved here from out of state and he did one in the office). ?Then I had the big ultrasound around 20 weeks. ?We got photos with the first three. ?With the last one we got a cd with photos burned on it.

I've had 5 ultrasounds. Know that I have to go see the doctor every week know . The nurse always gives me one. But this week I didn't because we could not see her face she had her hands in the way.

I've only had 1 and that was at 19 weeks and so far there hasn't been any talk of doing any more, assuming no complications come up.

Is your insurance actually covering an ultrasound at every visit? I'm jealous! I think it's great that you get to see your baby at every appointment, but I know my insurance would never pay.

I had one at six weeks because I got pregnant with this baby immediately after having my DS with no period in between, so we needed dating. I had one with my amniocentesis, and two following that when I thought I was leaking amniotic fluid. I had the usual anatomy scan, I think that was around 19 weeks this time. That will be it for me, unless they suspect that size might be a problem, and that is far more than the usual in my office, which is the NT if the mother chooses to do it and the anatomy scan around 20 weeks.

We did get pictures at each one, even the emergency ones. The ones from the anatomy scan they put on disk for us.

I've had 5-- 10 weeks to date the pregnancy, 14 weeks the OB did one just for fun on a new 3D machine in the office, 20 weeks--big ultrasound, 21--we went to a 3D place because the big ultrasound couldn't show us the gender, and 30 weeks--to measure him again because my fundal height was/is measuring 3 weeks ahead.

I've had 7 so far.

First to date the pregnancy, one at 18 weeks because the doctor was having trouble finding the heartbeat (I have an anterior placenta), 20 week big ultrasound, 2 at a high-risk specialist because of low fluid, and 2 'regular' ones again to check fluid levels.

I personally do not like ultrasounds. They make me so nervous! I will probably have one or 2 more to make sure the fluid is good, hopefully that's it.?

I've had 5 so far, one to date my pregnancy and the big US and a few extras to double check things (placenta position, things they couldn't see at my big US, etc.) I think that will be it unless they need to check on her position closer to my due date (she was still frank breech at my most recent one).

Oh and I've gotten pictures at 3 of them - the two most recent ones have been 3D shots too.

By 32 weeks, I'll have 5 at the doctor's office. Then I'll get one every 2 weeks until 36 weeks. Then every week after that. I get pictures everytime. I get so many because I'm having twins.

We have had 3 so far - one at 7w to "date" the pregnancy, the big 20w where tech couldn't see much of the anatomy (or gender) due to position, third at 21w where we learned sex and saw rest of the anatomy.. we may get one or more u/s from here on out, depending.. Just got pics from them

I've had 4 so far. One at 6w to date the pregnancy, one at 8 weeks for bleeding, one at 10 weeks to check the heartrate and the standard 20 weeks.

I got photos at each of them

I had one at 10 weeks (to verify how far along I was) and then I had another at 19 weeks to do all of the necessary measurments (and I found out I was having a GIRL!!!!!)... No more for me unless there are complications with her or myself...

I've had two: one at 7 weeks after spotting, and one at 20 weeks. At each I got pictures.

12 seems crazy excessive!

That is the exact same with me. I haven't had any complications, my dr. thinks it's important for parents to see their baby.

I love it and I don't know what I would do if I ever moved!

so far 4. 1st one was 5 weeks due to bleeding. Then at my first OB exam 8 weeks, next one was 20 weeks and then 31 weeks because baby is measuring big. If everything is fine and now issues my doctor does 2 (one at the first exam and one at 20 weeks).

my dr only charges us for the 3 that they give, the rest he just does. We do not get pics at everyone. However he will if it a good pic.

So far we've only had 2. One at my 6 wk. appt. and one at 20 wks. for the anatomy, etc. I don't think they'll be anymore. I didn't even know you could get DVD's with an ultrasound. That's way cool! We just got a buttload of pics.
