Problems eating solid foods

I have a question, I don't usually post I just stalk and get answers but I couldn't find an answer to this. I have a 5 almost 6 month old beautiful, fun, loving baby boy, but I am getting stressed out cause he won't eat from a spoon. At his 4 month check up the pediatrician said I could start introducing solid foods, so I have been trying, and I can't get him to eat anything! I have tried rice cereal, oatmeal, greenbeans, peas, sweet potatos, and he just gets mad and starts to cry when I start feeding him, and then from there I just have to stop because he won't swallow or anything. A good friend of mine who I work with has a baby girl 2 days younger then mine and she is doing great on eating with a spoon,I know I shouldn't compare, but it is very hard not to when we are such good friends and work very closely together.  I'm just getting so stressed out that I am going to be bottle feeding my child until he goes to kindergarten! I have been trying this on and off since 4 months and I'm getting no where. Has anyone else had problems like this??? Am I doing something wrong???

Re: Problems eating solid foods

  • Is he too hungry when you feed him? ?I have to give mine the bottle first to take the edge off, then the solids are just playtime to him and he's a lot better with it.

  • I dont really have any advice from experience because we haven't introduced solids yet, but maybe give it a break for a week and try again? I dont know why.... I just think back to when DD wouldn't take a bottle and I finally gave up trying for a bit and then when I tried again she took it just fine. Maybe she sensed my anxiety...
