S/O Shopping Cart: When did your/will your LO sit in a cart?

Around what age will you put your LO in the actual seat part of the cart vs. keeping him/her in the carseat?  My friend is making a cart cover for her now.  I'm eager to go shopping w/o having to worry about a carseat or holding her on my hip.  She can sit upright fairly well, but I don't think she's quite ready yet.

    i will when he's able to sit upright completely and without assistance. i'd imagine in a few months we'll be able to do that!

    DD was 6 months the first time she went in the shopping cart seat and then I happened to notice on the shopping cart it also said that children must be 6 months old.

    we just started.  Colin has great control and can sit unassisted for awhile (until he leans for a toy, lol).  We also put him in highchairs at restaurants.  it is so much easier! he loves it too!

    I had no choice when DS#1 was 6 months- he was 22 lbs and outgrew his carrier.  He was slouching in the shopping cart, but I propped him a little bit and it was fine.  My little guy is a peanut and probably won't hit 22 unitl he's 2!  I'm quite happy keeping him in his carseat for as long as possible!
