She has been sick for a couple of days and today she has hardly nursed. ?I was hoping when she got up from her 2.5 hour nap this afternoon she would, but all she does is sob when I offer it to her. ? Also, now she has a bad raspy cough that she has never had with past colds (also she never refused to nurse), however she doesn't have a fever for the first time in over a day.
I have a call into the pedi, but I am always skeptical when I talk to a machine and not a live person. ?Especially on a Friday afternoon.
I am really upset- has anyone gone through this before? ?What did you do? I am so afraid she is going to get dehydrated.?

Re: Really upset: Lily won't nurse...

Liliana went through this exactly on Monday and has the same thing that Lily seems to have. She started nursing like crazy when she woke up on Tuesday.
ETA: We took her in Tuesday morning and no ear infection and her lungs were clear.

It is really stupid. ?Off hours you get a call back directly from a pedi, but during the day you have to leave a message on the RNP voicemail. ??
This happened with my DS a while back. He wouldnt take a bottle either. Took him to the pedi and apparently he had a bad sore throat. A couple days of motrin helped keep the swelling and pain in check until it cleared up.
If she wont eat remember to pump so you dont risk your supply.

She won't take a bottle either (never would), but I just managed to get an once in her with a medicine dropper. ?I am going to to do it every hour.

PPs have already said pretty much everything I would (try bottle, keep trying to nurse, cup feeding), but I just wanted to add that we did go through this and it turned out OK. My Lily (this post is full of Lilies) was too stuffed up and she couldn't breathe, but we kept trying. It is so upsetting, though, I know.
Oh--maybe try nursing when she's half-asleep. That worked for us. GL
My silly Lily is almost 4.
