As I posted yesterday, went to my 38 week appointment and have had no progress. I originally told my boss that this coming Friday was my last day. Now, I'm thinking that I might work the next week too rather than sit around at home - I don't really have anything else to do for baby. Also, I'm a teacher, but my sub is working with me right now (so I can leave any time) and I'm doing a simulation with my classes that allows me to sit on my ass all day and play games...so not too strenuous.
What do you think? Stick with the original plan or work until labor starts/I'm induced?
Re: when would you/will you/did you stop working?
if you feel fine and won't get paid if you take off (or it will eat into your maternity leave) i'd work up until you deliver if you can.
i can go out early with STD so it's fully paid. My Ob is taking me out between 24-28w b/c it's twins. With my singleton pg I was going to go out at 36w, but i ended up on bed rest at 30w.
I am working until the end of my 37th week, then I'm out. Regardless of how much progress I've made. I want to be able to just relax and get my house/life in order before the baby comes. The way I see it is, I'm taking the full 12 weeks, and luckily because of my due date and Spring Break, that 12 weeks will take me into summer.
If I were you, I'd stick with your original plan and just enjoy a little last me time. Go get a mani/pedi, massage, haircut, etc...whatever you want to relax, or make some meals ahead of time that you can freeze.
I planned to go until 38.4 weeks, but the dr put me on bed rest a week early. Do what feels most comfortable for you - I couldn't have made it any longer in kindergarten.
I will say that being prepared for my sub early was a blessing. You never know whaen your last day will be, so plan accordingly!
Yesterday was my last day. I'm looking forward to having next week off to just relax.
I'm a teacher too- 9th grade. I pretty much sit all day- but I have a tremendous walk into/out of /around the building and I am suffering from SEVERE pubis symphysis disorder- which makes things true agony when I walk. Bones clicking and popping is as painful as it sounds.
I go out Feb 27th, which will be 38 weeks. I STILL don't have a sub, so I am in panic mode that things will not be ready for me to go out. School is also about 40 minutes from the hospital and an hour from my husband. If could stay at school longer, I would- but not with all of this!!
