They worked well for us in the NB stage. We always snappied and used ProRap covers for the first 1.5 months.
I would say the biggest issue is poop. Probably more info than you wanted to know here: My DD pooped small amts often, so we didn't have the problem of monster poops blowing out. We had stopped using them by the time she was pooping large amts every 2-3 days.
Another issue would be wetness. They aren't lined so any wetness stays right there next to their skin. I remedied this by purchasing 1/2 yd of regular fleece and cutting strips that I lined the diapers with. It helped A LOT.
I'd say, yes for NB/ no for older babies. Although others on here use them for older infants with great success.
