I came home from running errands yesterday and noticed a couple standing in front of the house next door. It's a house that was sold while the builder was building it. I figured they were our new neighbors and I went over to introduce myself. We got to talking and they told me that they got granite counter tops, the stainless steel package with a stainless steel refridgerator, a washer and dryer, as well as a 42 inch plasma TV included as incentives when they bought their home!
We had to upgrade to granite, upgrade for the stainless steel appliances, and we had to buy our own washer, dryer, and stainless steel fridge! And no one mentioned any plasma TV when we were building our house! We started building just as the housing mess started. We moved in last November. Crazy how much changes in a year! Sucks!
Re: So mad/jealous!
Yeah they are giving away new cars with homes up here and paying 5% cash back over 2 years. You get 2.5% when you move in and 2.5% on your anniversary at the property. Crazy.
WEEE! We're buying at a perfect time.
This is not meant as a flame, just wanting to point out that things could be worse. We bought our house 4 years ago, at the height of the bubble. Our house now appraises for $200k less than we paid for it. My DH works for General Motors and could be out of work soon. My company was just bought by a competitor and when the transition is completed this March, I will hold a "redundant" position. And 10 days after that, I am due to have a baby, so the job interviewing isn't going all that great right now.
So being out a few stainless steel appliances doesn't sound all that bad to me right now. I am jealous of YOU!
