Cloth Diapering

Can I bleach my inserts?

I know I can't bleach my diapers, but can I bleach microfiber inserts? I am pretty certain that they are clean, but after a few days of some pretty icktastic poo, my inserts are showing some staining. There are no stains in the diapers themselves, if that makes any difference. So what say ye Cloth Diaper experts? Can I bleach these icky inserts?

Re: Can I bleach my inserts?

  • I've bleached my diapers and inserts and had no problems. I just made sure to only put a quarter cup of bleach in and rinsed really good.

  • You can use bleach to strip your diapers so it should be fine. I've heard the sun is better for stains though.

  • I have found the sun to work better on stains but I use 1/4 cup bleach every couple of months.

  • I put my stained inserts from my 4 wk old out in the sun. Takes the stains out within two hours. Seems easier to me compared to messing with bleach.
  • You can bleach them, but for stains I would just line dry in the sun
