Umbrella Stroller

So I know we've had this discussion before, but honestly, I didn't pay attention to it because I didn't think I was going to be in the market for an umbrella stroller, but we are now in the market for a reasonably priced, lightweight, basic stroller.

I want something that my 4 year old could possibly use when he gets lazy and wants to sit down for a couple minutes, so the ever-popular Chico Liteway doesn't work, since it has a max weight of 40lbs, and my DS is 45lbs.

We currently have an Uppa Baby G-lite, which I like OK.  I've heard good things about the Maclaren Volo, but when we tried it out this weekend it seemed like the back was a little flimsy, and I wonder about those tiny wheels if we do go for a walk outside.

Does anyone here have any great recommendations?  Anyone tried out the Inglesina umbrella stroller?  Anyone have the Maclaren Volo?  I'd like something in the under $150 range.

TIA!!!

  • Take a look at the Britax B Nimble. It's similar to the Liteway but has a weight rating of up to 55 pounds.

  • I was going to recommend my stroller, because I love it...but I didn't even look at the weight limit on it when I bought it, it's apparently only 31.2....uhhhh, my kid's that now.  Oh well!  I'll be using it.  And my 4yr old nephew, who I think is 45lbsish has sat in it ok...  If you want to look anyways, https://www.target.com/p/jeep-cherokee-sport-stroller/-/A-14237606#prodSlot=medium_1_11&term=jeep

  • We have the Inglesina Trip, and love it.  It's on the heavier side for an umbrella stroller, so if weight is important you may not like it, but it also has a higher rating for child weight (50 pounds?).  It also reclines, has a decent basket, and a good sun shade included.  We've had it about a year and have taken it all over.

  • I love my Joovy Groove umbrella stroller, its only 17 lbs and can hold up to 55 lbs. Its around 200, so it may be more then you want to spend. It was well worth the money in my opinion. Good luck with your stroller search!
