My daughter is almost 20 months old and has a very bright red diaper rash. She ate pineapple on Sunday and the rash showed up later that evening. I just assumed it was due to the acidity in the pineapple because she tends to be sensitive to acidic food. Desitin and vaseline usually clear the redness up in just one overnight.
But this time, we're going on 4 days. It always looks a little better in the morning after being slathered in cream, but comes back almost immediately after peeing or pooping in her diaper. She is also complaining and crying every time she pees. Her primary daycare teacher told me she has been very dry the past 2 days, so it seems like she is holding it as long as she can because it hurts when she does actually pee. I've been giving her warm bathes and drying her off really well before putting anything on her bottom.
I think I'm going to call the doctor and just see what they have to say but I wanted to hear from you guys to see if you've had any similar experiences. Thanks!

Oh and I'm a major Harry Potter Nerd
Give her a baking soda bath with like 2 cups if not more and about 1 cup of vinegar.
Let her soak as long as long as she will, then let her be naked.
It has cleared up every diaper rash we've ever had stat.
DS was just diagnosed with strep bottom... basically a strep infection that led to a diaper rash. I'd never heard of it, but we were around my sister who had strep throat and didn't know it.
He tested positive for both strep throat and strep bottom, and he is on antibiotics that should help clear up both. His pediatrician also recommended using Neosporin and vaselin/aquaphor on his diaper rash, and so far it looks a lot better.
