travel system and additional car seat?

So we've registered for a stroller that has the removable infant seat, but we have two cars.  Does that mean we should register for an additional infant car seat?

No.  Just register for a second base.

Infant carseats are really portable and easy to use in multiple vehicles because you don't even need the base to install them in the car, just buckle it in with the seatbelt real quick and you are good to go. If you plan to use it in both of your cars regularly you should get a second base for your other car to make things easy. We registered for a second base for our carseat and never ended up getting it. It turned out that it fit better in our second vehicle with just a seatbelt install. We used our infant seat as a backup even after DD moved to a convertible because I could leave it with her and anyone who needed to drive her somewhere could do so.

Instead of a second base, we put that money towards a convertible car seat for DHs car. We would need it eventually anyways and have used it on occasion since the beginning
