Hi everyone
I unfortunately get horrible headaches/migraines. For years, I have been taking Treximet (Imitrex with an NSAID) and it has worked great. My husband and I have been trying to conceive for a few months. This month, I have been getting a lot of headaches. I do not know if that is due to stress, the heat or hormones!
I tried taking Tylenol and it did not work at all. After suffering for 3 days, I called my OB and was told it is okay to take Advil/Ibuprofen for the first two trimesters. She then called in a prescription for fioricet and told me to take it with severe migraines. I went to pick it up tonight and the pharmacist told me it is not recommended during pregnancy. Has anyone every taken this before?
I do not wish headaches on anyone, but if anyone suffers like I do, I would love to learn from you!
Thanks!!
Re: Headaches- Fioricet?
sorry I haven't heard of that particular drug. Most RE's and OBGYNS do not reccommend taking advil/ibuprofen while TTC or in early pregnancy because it can cause ovulation issues and later implantation issues.
Here is a helpful link I found

I know this doesn't answer your particular question and you are getting conflicting info from your doctor and pharmacist. You might give your doctor another call and tell them what the pharmacist told you.
Hopefully someone on this board can give you more specific info.

So I have this great book called Medications & Mothers Milk, geared towards breastfeeding moms, but it tells you its pregnancy & lactation risk category.
Pregnacy Category A safest, D + evidence of human fetal risk. Lactation 1 safest 5 not so much.
So your drug is made up of acetaminophen, butalbital and caffeine.
Acetaminophen is Cat B & L1, butalbital cat D, L3 (moderately safe); caffeine Cat C, L2.
So you can guess what would work for ttc, HOWEVER sometimes the effect of teh drug outweighs the risk. I am very sorry you have migraines, I wouldn't wish that on anyone, as I do suffer but not so much lately. Good luck!!
