Reveal party - maybe not

I've been considering having a small party with family close friends to reveal the sex of the new LO. We'll find out in August. I thought it would be a good excuse to have everyone out to our new hosue too. I've been meaning to have like a housewarming type thing & this would be a perfect excuse.

I've been looking through pinterest at pics & ideas for cakes & other things people have done & I immediately start getting choked up thinking about how I will react when I see it. Whether boy or girl I will be so happy. Now I'm reconsidering since I'm thinking I may just break down crying in joy like a baffoon in front of everyone!

BOY are these emotions in overdrive!!

  • I totally get where you are coming from. I am loosing it over everything and certainly wouldn't want to do that in front of a whole house. What if you and SO found out ahead of time. It can be a surprise for all of your family and friends but you will have a little prep and will hopefully shed just a tear or two...

DH has TERRIBLE patience..There is no way he would let us be team green :)   I bet we will end up finding out right away after all, so if I can convince him to have the get together, that would help me save face a bit! LOL

  • I completely understand, what about not making it a surprise for you but for all your guests?

I will want to know ASAP what I am having but would love to do something fun for friends and family!

Haha! I love it! Turns out my husband is the same just after we announced I found out he had already told his entire office and most of our friends. You gotta love them.

  • We are planning on doing a BBQ with family the afternoon of our ultrasound. I was just thinking about if I wanted to have it be a surprise for us as well or just the other family members at the BBQ. I think it might be fun to capture our reaction on camera if we revealed it front of everyone but I'm just not sure I want to wait and not look at the screen during the ultrasound.

  • We are having a small, very causal cookout with family and close friends. We love an excuse to get together with everyone! For our reveal moment, we've ordered mini cupcakes from a shop that puts filling in all their treats. When it's time, we will pass them out and everyone will bite in and find out together by seeing either pink or blue filling!

Originally, I really thought I wanted to know ahead of time. Even though I'm sure I'll be a snotty mess, I think it will be so special to share that moment with those we love!

  • DH and I are having a reveal party for our family and friends a few days after our appt. We have planned to ask the tech to write the gender down and seal it in an envelope... but we are going to open it together that night at our favorite restaurant. I think having that moment alone with your husband is a special thing! I will do my best to keep my mouth shut the following days until we reveal it to everyone else. I have seen some really cute ideas on Pinterest and Etsy. Everything makes me emotional too!

  • We'll do something a day or two after the ultrasound - and we'll probably do the cake thing.  I was actually in the hospital for preterm contractions and missed the majority of my baby shower when I was pregnant before, so I really want the excuse to have a little party and celebrate this baby (no gifts of course!)

  • We are having our parents, brothers 2 close friends over for supper the day after our ultrasound. Being a photographer I want to have a photoshoot with the girls for fun then displaying the pictures at supper to let the guests know. My mil watches my girls hoping she doesn't ask about photoshoot colors the day of our supper my 3 year old will spill the beans.
