If you like it, and your husband likes it, go with it. Will you feel comfortable yelling it at the park? Printing it on all her documents? She won't be one of 5 Breena's in her Kindergarten class, so that's a plus. When I taught, there was a girl named Sabrina, and all her friends called her Brina, so I've heard it/called it before, maybe that's why it doesn't seem strange to me. Always go with your gut, (and head). As long as it isn't totally far out, isn't impossible to pronounce or spell, then, go with it.
