Spelling of Derek?

What is your opinion on the proper spelling of this name?  

Derek

Derrek

Dereck/Derreck

Derick/Derrick

Or any other spelling?  The only person I can think of with this name is Derek Jeter, so naturally I think "Derek" is the proper spelling.

I've only seen Derek and Derrick. Not sure if they're both legitimate.

My DH is named Derek. There must be a ton of ways to spell it bc I've seen people misspell his name in almost every way you list.

Yes!  This is why I'm so confused!  I googled the name and so many spellings popped up.

I've gone to school with a lot of boys with this name, and I've also had several students with this name in the past.

 

Frankly, I still don't know how it's supposed to be spelled. I think I've seen almost every version.

I've known Derek and Derrick. I only like Derek.

I've never seen anything other than Derek. Derrick looks as though someone spelled it phonetically.
