Baths when traveling?

We're looking at doing a 2 week road trip when LO is 3.5-4 months old.  We've been using a baby tub here, but what's the best way to bathe a baby when not at home?  We only do it a couple times a week, but still...

  • Either take the baby in the shower with you or in the bath with you. If you have a bumbo you can use that in the tub also

  • Since DS outgrew his infant bath insert a while ago, I've just had him in the bath with me. It's pretty easy to do if your DH can hand him to you, maybe help with rinsing hair, and take him out at the end. I make the water not too hot and a bit shallow so it comes up to his stomach or so.

When we travelled I just laid my daughter flat in tub and put an inch or two of water and quickly washed and rinsed her.  She got clean...wasn't the relaxing soaker bath she's used to but it did the trick and can be done in any tub.

  • DH got in the tub with both boys when we went to FL 2 months ago.  Everyone loved it.  He just held DS2 on his lap the whole time.
  • I put a hand towel in the tub for him to lay on and a couple inches of water. Works for us!

This.  When visiting my parents my mom did this for my LO's bath and she loved it!

  • if you really want a tub, then there are ones that are mesh seats that fold flat. we brought ours cross country with us and it didn't take up hardly any space. with twins and a two yo it was necessary. i've taken my oldest in the shower with me before, but he could sit up on his own and i just set him in the tub with the shower going.

TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!

Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!

Side note: we have one of those and hope it will be useful later on, because for now, LO just wiggles his way down and almost out of it. It's funny and safe since we didn't use a lot of water and kept a hand on him, but makes for a long bath when you have to pick him back up the whole time...
But they do seem very practical and take zero space once dried and folded.

  • I'm currently traveling with my LO, staying in hotels for almost 3 weeks. I got one of those mesh chair from Target. I don't like taking her in the shower with me because she's a big girl. She does have a tendency to slide down the chair, but I keep one hand on her and bathe her quickly. I'm not keen on laying her down in the tub. Who knows how clean they really are in hotels! The chair has been a good enough alternative.
