bug spray?

Didn't see this on this page, so at least it hasn't been brought up in the past two weeks.   Recommend a bug repellent for the 4th??  We are going to my parent's house.  They live on 47 acres of wooded land and ticks are literally dropping from the trees.  I hate being outdoors there!  I don't really want to cover any of us, especially Nate, with DEET, so the more natural (and least smelly), the better.

Also, I bought one last year from Walmart with mickey mouse in the front and it stank horribly and skin so soft invites more bites in my experience.

Nora goes to a preschool where they spend a lot of their day outside, and we've been using the California Baby stuff. It's natural, made from essential oils, and it seems pretty effective. You may need to reapply it if you're out for a long time.

Yay! We found it at Target, and I know Whole Foods stocks it, too.

I spoke to my pedi about this at the 30 month visit, because we live on a wooded lot, and I don't want to put put DEET on my son.  She said that if it is a buggy day, she recommends putting a DEET spray on the clothes.  So, that's what we do. 

Today, for example, is super buggy because we have had so much rain.  I had no choice but to spray Off with Deet on his clothes before we went outside.  I use California Baby on his skin.

Honestly, I looked into it, and using a deet spray if you are in a particularly bug filled, and tick filled area is better than not

I rarely put bug spray on my boys but when I do, I use Off for kids which has deet.  But I only spray it on their clothes.  Our pedi said that was fine.

I may use the DEET then.  I really don't want the ticks on us and mosquitos are getting bad too.

We use the California Baby bug spray, too! It's pricy, but it works and its all natural.

We use Cali baby too. It is a little more pricey, but it really does work and the bottle lasts forever. I'm still on my fist bottle of it and its still pretty full.

CB here to but we live in a concrete jungle so it's not really those kinds of bugs around, ha ha!  (On the upside, C calls cockroaches that we see in the parking deck, "ladybugs".  Makes them much more friendly that way!)

We use Burt's Bees herbal insect repellant.  It has a small to it.  Our DCPs don't really like the smell.  It's not bad, just... different.
