Bed sharers come in

This is a silly question but, What position do you sleep in? I nurse her to sleep and fall asleep side lying belly to belly most nights. My back is starting to really hurt from sleeping on my side but I feel it's unsafe for me to sleep in another position. DD is 19weeks, about 14lbs and can roll over both ways. She tends to favor sleeping on her side more so than her back.

  • Do you have a king-size bed?  I find that because the bed is big enough I have a good buffer between me/DH/LO, I can position her so that we can't roll on her and she can't roll off the bed.  I generally lay on my side anyway, but sometimes on my stomach.  I know that doesn't help if you have a smaller bed...

Yea we have a king size. I have an arms reach cosleeper bis even if she did roll off she'd fall in there. Ill have to try it out bc my back is really getting bad.

  • I generally wedge a pillow behind my back to support me when I'm side-laying (or a body pillow would be great).  Have you tried that?  It keeps me from stiffening up my back muscles.

I do the same. Once LO unlatches and has dozed off I usually gently flip her back on her back from her side. I

  • I have a bedrail so I nurse him side-lying, tummy to tummy and then when he's asleep I move away so that I can sleep however I want and his roll over options are into a bedrail or into me.  This helps me maximize the space my H and I have in the bed too b/c he can be right up against the bedrail, no chance he'll fall out of bed.   He usually flops himself from side to back after a few minutes.  If he didn't, I'd probably gently roll him that way before moving away from him.

  • We share a queen-sized bed (DH sleeps on the floor next to us) so we have plenty of room. I lay in whatever position is comfortable.

Yes!  Do this.  I was the same way until I used a pillow for back support.  It helps a lot.
