Baby Showers

How long do showers usually last?

My mom is planning my shower and asking me a ton of stuff that I don't know about either!

She wants to have the shower at a local restaurant and was asking if she should have it at 12p or 1p. There will be lunch served. And she doesn't know if she should do it for3 or 4 hours. I don't know what to tell her.. If there's a standard? Or what do you ladies personally think?

TIA!

  • 2 to 3 hours is the norm.

  • With lunch being served, 2 to 3 hours seems reasonable to me. Maybe a 12:30 start time would work? It might be a nice idea to add luncheon or lunch will be served onto the invites so guests know to come hungry.

I just got home from a baby shower.  It was scheduled at a restaurant from 1-4, however the MTB was finished opening presents by about 3:20-3:30, so people just left after that.  It was a sit down meal - we ordered off a modified menu with about 8 choices (sandwiches & salads).

The restaurant my mom and MIL booked gives 4 hours asnbsp;a standard package deal.

Mine was 4 hours, too. I think it greatly depends upon the norm in your area and amongst your friends and relatives. I'm in NYC. Every shower I've attended has been at a restaurant or country club. They've all been formal, sit down, multi course meals. I've never attended a shower less than 4 hours long, so I can't imagine what a 2 hour shower is like since I'm just not accustomed to it.

I just had a shower for my daughter yesterday at a country club. We had the facility from 12-4 (4 hrs was the standard rental allotment), but we were cleaned up and out of there by about 3:20.

I like a 12:00 start time. By the time you eat it's close to 1:00. Most people eat lunch around noontime so I say, why make them wait til later. A 1:00 start time may mean people don't eat til 1:30 or 2;00.

  • I have never been to a shower less than 4 hours. They always seem to be pretty exact to 4hrs. I would start at noon. Especially if u plan on opening all your gifts at the shower that takes up a ton of timeZ.
