Why does it bother me!?!?!?

To continuously hear my in laws comment on how much dD looks like their side of the family!?!?!??

it makes my blood boil and I know it's stupid bc DD is adorable so really it doesn't matter who she favors, not to mention I know that she clearly does favor my husband.......but still, I feel like they ccompletely discount that she is half me!!!!!! Maybe it's just because I loathe these people. Ok, rant over.....now back to your regularly scheduled bumping

Oh I completely understand how you are feeling!!!  

My husband's parents annoy me so.much. and they are constantly telling me how much our kids look like their side of the family.  Sure, they share some features, but um .... they definitely do not look exactly like them.  My son has my father in laws eye shape (so does my husband) and while I think my baby boy is the cutest little thing in the world, I think my father in law is one of the scariest looking people I have ever seen so it really makes me pissed when people say my baby looks like him.  Ah ... no he doesn't.

I've heard the same thing that they start out looking like daddy to reassure him then may change later. But E is 100 percent her daddy too. Though it might be a but of your distaste for your ILs that makes you so angry about it.

First thing that came to mind when I read the above was all those guys on the Maury show that say "that kid doesn't even look like me, so he/she can't be mine".  Guess it doesn't always work that way, lol.

Whenever I post pics of the boys on FB, everyone comments on how they look just like my husband.  The only trait of mine I've noticed so far is that two of them always sneeze twice in a row just like I do.  What a great trait to pass on (insert sarcasm here).  Seems like after all the trouble I went through, I should get at least one kid that resembles me a little.  DS1 doesn't look like me either, other than his eye color.  I just can't win.

My mother does this to DH and it really, really bugs me! For example, DS has DH's eyes. They are an awesome bullseye that have a ring of dark blue on the outside, then a ring of green, and a small brownish ring on the inside. So they are distinctive and an exact replica of DH's eyes. Everyone always compliments DS on his eyes. The last time my mother was there when someone asked where DS got his beautiful eyes, she jumped in and started talking about some distant cousin that has light eyes. I looked at her and said, "They are DH's eyes!" It's so annoying!

Okay, so the outside might look like their side of the family, which means the inside should resemble yours, right? Way better in my opinion! Plus, if you find your DH attractive (we would hope, right?) your kiddo will be awesome inside and out!

Its annoying and exactly what you already said that they are discounting you. That doesnt feel good.

This also bothers me, and I'm not sure why! I don't mind when hubby's family say she look like DH, but when they say DD looks like my FIL, SIL, etc it drives me nuts!
