Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Road trip gear

Hey ladies!!! We are taking a 13 hour road trip with our 8 and a half month twins in 2 weeks. Yes, we're crazy! It's a family trip we go on every other year. They will turn 9 months old on the trip. So, I've already made peace with the idea that all is not going to go perfectly. We're breaking it up into two days and we'll have a car DVD player with two screens. My babies like Baby Einstein movies but I'm wondering if any of y'all with have any other movie and interactive toy suggestions that your LO loves!!! I want to introduce new toys and movies to them during the awake times.

Also, please pray for my sanity!!! :

Re: Road trip gear

  • We did a 13 hour road trip with my LO when she was 5 months old. We ended up having to drive during the day, but she did end up taking plenty of naps. I brought a basket of toys, books and my Ipad to entertain her. I also sat in the back with her the whole way to keep her occupied and would sing, read and play games with her. I know now at this age in the car she loves the mirror on the seat in front of her and anything she can bang to make noise (measuring cups, blocks, plastic keys). Good luck!

  • My little one loves The Gigglebellies (Twinkle Little Star is his fav)- you can check them out for free on YouTube I think.  Also, anything he can put in his mouth especially his Sophie.  He has a tendency to throw his toys and then cry when he can't find them so I found that using pacifier clips on them helps to keep the toys within reach and not on the car floor.  You can buy all sorts of clips for toys on various sites such as Amazon.  Lastly, I would think strategically planning pit stops where they can get out of the car and crawl/walk/jump until exhaustion would be sooo important.  I can't imagine doing that trip with one nevertheless two- good luck!
