C-sections

Meds Q

How long did you need to take ibuprofen and acetaminophen after your c-section?  I'm 2 weeks PP and I am trying to cut back since a few days, but pain comes right back especially at the end of the day.  It's not my first c-section, but I can't seem to remember what it was like before.  Thanks!

Re: Meds Q

  • They sent me home with Motrin and Norco. I did not really use the Norco much, only when I sat up and hurt myself pretty bad which I think was one or two times. I mainly used the Motrin and I don't think I took it any longer then 2 weeks. I still have a lot of it left, I think it was slightly overkill lol. Everyone is different though.

  • I was taking pain medication in the hospital and was prescribed Percocet sp? to come home with. I only felt the need to take the meds on the first two days I was home, so I was medicated for a total of five days including the day of the procedure.

  • I went home with Vicodin and rx Ibuprofen. I took them probably regularly (not the max around the clock like in the hospital!) but fairly often for the first week and then I think I switched to just the rx ibuprofen after that with occasional Vicodin for really bad pain. The second c/s was an all around easier recovery though.

  • With both of my c-sections, I took motrin in the hospital and never needed anything stronger than that.  They gave me a prescription for vicodin when I went home, but I didn't need it.  I took motrin every 6 hours until 1.5 weeks, and then tapered off and took it as needed.
