This drives me nuts

The word "Patronize" has 3 different meanings and pronounced three different ways, but people only pronounce one way.  This is one of the reason's it's so hard for a non-English speaking person to learn proper English, but when someone pronounces it wrong it drive me NUTS.

Ok, start flaming away

Pay * tron * ize - To be a regular customer at store

  • I only knew about the first two pronunciations, but where I'm from words get butchered on a daily basis. I unfortunately butcher words on a daily basis.

"I stammered, unable to form a coherent thought because I have a vagina."

  • I have no idea why it drives me nuts, but, for some reason it does.  I'm from Boston so I shouldn't really complain about butchering pronunciation of words lol, but, this is the one that drives me CRAZY.
  • One that I always listen in on is whether someone pronounces the t in often. I have no idea why, but I always listen to it.

"I stammered, unable to form a coherent thought because I have a vagina."

  • If I read the word Often, I pronounce the T, but, if I say it out loud I don't.  Weird huh.  :)
