Hi ladies. Im new here. A roll over from the knot. We are ttc #2. My dr told me me stop taking my fibro meds so i did. But he never mentioned my topomax.
I was on topomax for migraines and was told to not get pregnant whole taking this medication. This medication is known to cause birth defects. Just wanted to share. Good luck to you.
I just discussed TTC with my doc, and the FIRST thing she said was "As soon as you start, you have to quit taking your Topomax."
If you read the warnings that come with your medication, it explicitly states that the drug is known for causing fetal deformities, and that pregnant women or women trying to conceive should NOT take it.
Another note, don't cold turkey your Topomax, but rather ease down on it before stop taking it. It can trigger seizures to cold turkey.
My husband and I have been very anxious for months, well I'd say actually since the day we got married 2 years ago and my doctor has brought me down a little on this. Just when I was ready to get off the pill he told me I had to first wean myself off the topomax and then be completely off of it for an entire cycle before we could consider trying. I even questioned him and said really a whole cycle and he said yes simply because the birth defects so aren't worth it! Hope this helps..

Ask your doctor.
It's a really dumb idea to ask a board full of internet strangers about medications that could or could not affect a fetus.
