Baby Names

louisa sarah?

too "a" sounding? We really want to use Sarah as a mn and LOVE Lucy but don't want to just do Lucy.

Last name is stuart.

I don't like the matchy endings. How about Sarah Louise and then call her Lucy?

    This.  Love the name Lucy!

I like Sarah Lucille if you love Lucy.

  • Louisa Sarah sounds funny IMO.  I think a short middle name would be nice since Louisa is a longer sounding name.

Not too "a" sounding. Too "s" sounding. Especially with your last name. And the ending "sa" of Louisa with the beginning "sa" of Sarah, doesn't flow well.

I don't like when a child is given a name and then her middle name is used (PP suggesting flipping the name and calling her Lucy). To me you should have just named her her middle name. So if you really like Loisa w/ nn Lucy, I'd just try to find a new middle name. What about Louisa Kate or Louisa Claire?

  • I like Sarah Louise nn Lucy as suggested by PP, but Sarah Louise is a clothing company baby and children.
I think Lucille Sarah sounds better.

  • Looks like I'm in the minority, but I think Louisa Sarah is really beautiful! I had Louisa on my short list, but DH wasn't crazy about it.

  • 1. Yes, the flow of Louisa Sarah is not so great.

    2. How is Lucy a nickname for Louisa? I don't get it... Just seems like too much of a stretch!

eta: The only reasonable nickname for Louisa (IMHO) is Lou/Lu.

This. Sarah Louise is on our list and I think it's adorable. Louisa Sarah just doesn't flow right. They are both great names. Just not combined.

  • I really do not like that combo together.

Sarah is going to be hard as the middle name if you are worried about flow.  That being said, I think people get too hung up on the flow of the first and middle name.  I think Louisa Sarah is fine.  I don't really like Louise.  I like Louisa much better.  If I was going to use Lucy as a nickname, I would want it to be a nn for her first name, not middle.

ETA:  I just don't get giving her the first name Sarah and then calling her Lucy.

This exactly. How often are you really going to call her by her fn and mn or full name? It's nice when a name has a great flow, but if you are in love with both names, go for it! Louisa is a lovely first name.
